When Will Construction End?

In 2013, Ratkovich Co. purchased the Macy’s Plaza in Downtown LA for $240 million. It was announced that the plaza will go through a makeover in 2014 and will be named The Bloc. Today, in 2016, we are still waiting for the construction to end.

But in the meanwhile, lets talk about how the makeover will benefit us as customers. First of all, The Bloc will not have huge concrete walls separating it from the outside world. It will have an open-air concept, which will have a lot of sunlight. It will become pedestrian friendly providing a nice escape from the chaotic downtown life. Also it will have direct connection to the 7th Street Metro Center, which is a huge plus in a city like Los Angeles where one of the biggest hassles we experience is just finding a parking spot.

The new Bloc will have many hip store additions. It will have a gallery-like shop “Free-Market”, luxury men’s brand Wingtip, a GNC, a toy shop Mr. G for kids, as well as Alamo Drafthouse Cinema which will screen indie films with a nice selection of craft Californian Beers. It will bring Boston based restaurant Davios, a gelato-popsicle shop Popbar, juice bar Robeks, as well as a 24 hour open Starbucks.

The Sheraton will also go through a renovation and will have a restaurant and a bar in the first floor called District for the ones who would like to enjoy a nice lunch or a drink after work. For the ones who like to workout and maintain a healthy lifestyle, The L.A Fitness will also go under construction and expand its services by adding a nice and big pool.

We really hope that The Bloc will open its doors soon and we all can have nice space to relax and take a break from this upbeat downtown life.

Discover LA: Front of the House

Shout out to everyone out there who enjoys Mexican cuisine as much as we do. We recently discovered a new venue in downtown LA, one that combines Mexican food with craft cocktails and provides a perfect mixture of both worlds to its customers.

From the moment you step into the restaurant, you immediately feel something different and unique about this place. It has a relaxing yet hip and modern feel. If you are one those people who value a pleasing aesthetic as much as the pleasure to the palate, FOH for sure provides you both. Their food is as good as their decor.

To have a nice lunch after your workout or to have some fun pregame time before going to the Standard Hotels rooftop, you can stop by at the Front of the House and get small bites accompanied with amazing craft cocktails all made with special care.

By having a team who highly values the family spirit and believe in creating the best possible outcome by working together in harmony, we assure you that you won’t regret giving this new discovery of ours a try.

Four bartenders faced a mystery box of random ingredients including a local spirit. Each bartender used their skill and wit to create a unique drink that blended all the herbs, spices, and syrups together. How Millennials Are Reshaping the Food Industry

back-to-the-futureImage stolen from the internet

This week we celebrated Back to the Future Day and wow, things have changed drastically since the first movie came out. At a time where anything and everything is a button away, companies are having to think smart about how to keep up with the economy. “The VC Grocery List” by Corie Bown in the Entrepreneur Magazine  discussed the progress in technology that made it possible for the food sector to meet millenials’ growing demands for time-efficient and high quality products.

Today we have, “Big Data for farming, alternative and better sources for nutrition, and the reimagination of food delivery,” states Randy Komisar of Tech Crunch.

Among other things, consumers have only scraped the top of the value chain by raving about Postmates and Grubhub. Yet, according to Brown, VC’s have picked up venture trends like plant and insect proteins, aquaponics and urban farming that are predicted to go onwards and upwards. Tech-savvy food and beverage industry is also contributing to the wellbeing of the planet and the population by reducing waste and use of chemicals as well as accelerating distribution.

It’s interesting how millennials’ obsession with tech and Big Data is a trait that’s often criticized is also rousing the world be more and more efficient everyday. The ever-evolving pressure has inspired many to be creative in using technology.

As handmade artisanal vodka, loft & bear invests time to explore new technologies to expand while maintaining authenticity. Write us what you think about the potentials of F&B and loft & bear!
